                                                                   Taming the Tongue

Jas 3:1  My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. 

There are many in the world teaching whatever they please, destroying true and good worship . They think they are right, however they are right only in there own minds. They think they wear the crown, able to preach, anything that comes into their mind. God tells us differently. 1Peter 4:11


James it a great book of wisdom in the bible.

A CAUTION AGAINST BECOMING TEACHERS  James 3:1-2

Teachers shall receive a stricter judgment

Maturity and self-control are required not to stumble in word

THE POWER OF THE TONGUE  James 3:3-4

Like a bit which controls the horse

Like a small rudder which directs the ship

THE DANGER OF THE TONGUE James 3:5-6

A little member which boasts great things

Like a little fire which kindles a great forest fire

Indeed, the tongue can be a fire, a world of iniquity

Capable of defiling the whole body

Capable of setting on fire the course of nature, being set on fire by hell

THE DIFFICULTY OF TAMING THE TONGUE  James 3:7,8,9,10,11-12)

Man can control creatures of land and sea, but not the tongue

It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison

With it we bless God, and then curse man made in His image

Thus blessing and cursing proceed from the same mouth

Something which should not be so

For no spring sends forth both fresh and salt water

Neither does a fig tree bear olives, nor a grapevine bear figs

TRUE RELIGION DISPLAYS HEAVENLY WISDOM James 3:13,14,15,16,17-18

THE TRUE DISPLAY OF WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING (13)

To be seen in one's conduct

With works done in meekness

THE DISPLAY OF EARTHLY WISDOM James 3:14,15-16

Full of bitter envy, self-seeking, boasting and lying

A wisdom not from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic

Producing confusion and every evil thing

THE DISPLAY OF HEAVENLY WISDOM James 3:17-18

Wisdom from above is first pure, then it is...

Peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits

Without partiality and without hypocrisy

The fruit of righteousness is produced by peacemakers who sow in peace
